The Palisades High School Community Gallery in Kintnersville, Bucks County, PA will present the “Midstream” paintings of Todd Stone from November 19-December 15,2008. The exhibition includes twenty years of the artist’s observations of the changing landscape of the Gallows Run Watershed and the Narrows of the Delaware River at Nockamixon Palisades. The most recent of the oils and watercolors depict the drastic changes wrought by recent flooding of the Delaware River.
Mr. Stone recently exhibited “Witness”, at the James A. Michener Museum in Doylestown. Opening to critical acclaim, the exhibit presented watercolors recording the artist’s personal experiences of the events that unfolded at the window of his Downtown New York studio on September 11, 2001.
"Gallows Run" is just as personal to Stone, who is currently president of the Gallows Run Watershed Association in Nockamixon Township, Pennsylvania and publisher of its newsletter Upper Bucks Futures. . Stone participated with the James A. Michener Art Museum's Artist in the School's Program at the Palisades Middle School on May of last year.
Mr. Stone says, "The Gallows Run paintings bring focus to the destruction that recent storm cycles have brought to our region. The stream, river and Delaware Canal have gone through drastic change with the rash of flooding. The river road to these special places has just now been repaired and re-opened. The aftermath of these events calls us all to rededicate ourselves to attend to the stewardship to the places we cherish.”
